A Nucleus is a massive nest, though.

Yeah, and they take a while to make when you order custom ones made for your exact species. I don't expect to receive it for a bit. (y)

Simply pick your nest from this page, order the correct size for your species. (Tiny/small, or medium/large.) Then in the comments field at checkout, specify what species the colony is for. Mack will customize the nest accordingly. You can even specify how you want the outworld decorations to be arranged.

That's cool. Thanks I may order one. I'd like to get a mini hearth for some honeypots soon.

Colony is still doing well. It seems like there is a bit of a gap between the latest eggs/small larvae and the current pupae. Hoping they aren't slowing down. Really excited to move them to their new home once it arrives.

This is my favorite species like I always say. My favorite thing to do is brood boost them. I have done it to most of my colonies to reach a few hundred workers within two years. I believe this one I did.

This colony isn't even a year old, and started with just the single queen. All the workers are hers. Hoping I can find another this year and try boosting her!

Got the colony moved over to their new type III Nucleus. I only snapped the one photo, but I'll take some better ones soon.

These are a blast to keep and seem to thrive in captivity. I have hundreds of workers from a queen I caught May 2020.

It's been a long time since my last update. This colony is doing well, but has been fairly inactive this summer. Tons of first stage larvae however. This makes sense to me as I haven't seen any wild Camponotous workers for a bit now. Seems like the colonies here take a break in the summer after nuptial flights.

Checked on these girls yesterday. Queen is doing fine. They'll be in diapause until the early spring, until I see the wild colonies starting to forage again.

Crazy to think these gals started from a single queen. There's so many workers, it's getting hard to get photos of brood.

I think these gals are going to have a big boom this year. We'll have to wait and see. Currently still in diapause. But I did notice they seem more active lately on some warmer/brighter days we've had this week.
