It's becoming quite the task to spot the queen sometimes. She blends in with her larger works pretty easily. Also the colony has become large enough that I've completely given up on using nestmates. Workers would try to charge out when I tried to change it. I've since just put two water feeders in their outworld.

If you have your nestmate positioned horizontally, you can quickly unplug it and squirt some water in it with a syringe before closing it again.

Quite alright. Just don't make a habit of it.  ;)

As for my Pogonomyrmex colony, they aren't showing any signs of slowing down growth wise. I know normally people put them in diapause, but I've heard mixed things about it with this species. Mack used to recommend it a few years ago, but now advises against it in the THA facebook group. Anyone else that keep Pogonomyrmex have advice/experience with this?

I heard you like callow workers, so I got bunch more!

Seriously though, look at all these new callow workers. I also got a photo of the foraging area, so you have an idea of how many workers are constantly out there drinking water, looking for food, etc.

I think this colony is going for the record of how much brood they can stack on a water tower.

Got a lot of brood these days. I'm thinking we'll get quite a few more workers before we get to diapause.

Most of the older workers hang out in the foraging area. Basically waiting for me to feed them.
