how many workers do you have now?

To be entirely honest. I'm not sure. I'd estimate around 38-40ish. It's hard to count when the workers hide behind brood, in the brood pile, etc.

So, this colony is still growing. I've honestly given up trying to count workers. No majors yet, but I'm noticing new workers are quite a bit bigger than some of the first ones.

A few new workers. I estimate there's around 70 or so. But my count could be off.

Ok, so i have two queens of this species. I caught them in mid june in the uintas in utah. One queen has not layed at all and i am just feeding her weekly until she dies or lays eggs, which at this point I doubt will happen. The other queen layed eggs and has larvae but has not progressed much for a couple of weeks now. I have fed her honey and cricket legs to see if she just needs energy, because her gaster is smaller by far than the other queen but she will not accept it. Any ideas?

Also i know this is not a help forum, but i came across this and thought it might be helpful if i had some Camponotus modoc keepers to help out.

If by now they don't have workers, they aren't likely to until after diapause. My main colony is about to do such, and the smaller colony already is.

Probably until sometime in January.

Still have 2 pupae to enclose before they go in the fridge. All larvae has stopped developing at the early stages.

Just waiting on the last pupae to enclose. Then this colony will be going into diapause.

Got the small colony out of the fridge the other day. Sadly a worker died shortly after for some reason. As a precaution I moved the colony out from the cheap Chinese nest and into a THA mini hearth. They quickly snuggled up by the heat cable.

I hope this isn't the case with my larger colony. Would be sad to loose more. They are coming out of the fridge on the 2nd.

Okay, I pulled the bigger colony out to do some basic clean up/replace water and sunburst. Low and behold the colony woke up and started foraging. I decided a week early wasn't going to hurt them, and gave them some fruit flies, which they immediately grabbed and processed. Larvae are already growing too! Queen Tauri set up shop on the water tower.

I added heat last night and they stuck most of the brood right by the cable.
