How did you determine these were flavipes?

Wow those larvae are looking bigger than the ones on my Nylanderia. I guess just differences in species.

She has pupae! One hundred percent now. I think she should have workers in one or two weeks. Sorry for the bad photo

I know I know this isn’t the main queen but I thought this other colony’s nanitic was so cute!

She has three orange pupae. So I think she’ll have workers soon I’m going to check on her one Thursday or Friday. Sorry about the long wait I had her in a too-cold room for the first few weeks.

Update:
We’ve got workers! A total of three were born. They have some other pupae that looks like it will eclose soon. I tried feeding them some berry sugar water but the workers were too timid. It was actually the queen who drank it and fed the rest of the colony lol. I’m going to try to feed these guys later today! Stay tuned

There are four now! All still pale. I tried to give them a cricket leg but they are still hesitant to step off the cotton. In my experience once they harden in a few days they will turn into “crazy ants” and run everywhere in this photo you can see they are starting to move of the cotton. I even saw a worker do a quick loop across the test tube.

Quite. The queen remains the only ones me brave enough to forage and drink sugars! I pulled an ANTdrew and named her “ Virtus” after the Roman goddess of bravery.

Mini update:
They have 9 workers and about two mature workers. I fed them half a cricket yesterday and they didn’t really seem to care about it. I left it in there and put them back in the dark incubator. I think they ate it! There is also a small amount of mold forming so I’ll have to move them out in a little.

Sad update:
When I connected another tube their test tube flooded. I guess the cotton was pushed in to much. I managed to save Vitrus and four of her workers and one pupae by pulling the cotton out I’m sorry guys. There is a bit of good news though I went to clean out their old tube and I saw a pale worker tending to a small brood pile! The GOAT no idea how that worker got there. So that’s where they are now, Vitrus laid some eggs and they got another worker and have a few larvae. I’ll update this journal when\if they recover. I guess the moral of the story was to not push the cotton in so much.

Update:
This species brood seems to take a really long time to develop about a month and a half and I’ve been feeding them regularly but they aren’t too interested. The queens are bolth laying a lot of eggs and are slightly cyphogateric.

Update:
Honestly haven’t paid too much attention to this colony. They were in a small and dirty plastic test tube so I couldn’t see much. I eventually moved them into a larger glass test tube…and wow! I wasn’t expecting that many workers. I think I’ll start paying more attention to these guys now.

Update:
I took them out of diapause a few weeks ago and hooked them up to a outworld. I gave them a heat cable and their over winter larvae seems to be In premolt! I’m really exited for them this season, we’re approaching one year in age with them.
