can't guarantee this is an ant, but shares many characteristics with one. Ant was collected in South Georgia minutes ago while collecting solenopsis queens. Ant is about the size of my false honeypot queen (small). Ant has florescent white/green dots on gaster that appear to reflect light

I think this could be a S. invicta gynandomorph!
Nevermind, didn't see the spots . This is likely some other insect, not an ant.

Not an ant. No idea what it is though.
Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

It's definitely some sort of beetle. Also it's no problem. Even some of the experts get confused from time to time at first glance!
Currently Keeping:
Camponotus chromaiodes, Camponotus nearcticus, Stigmatomma pallipes, Strumigenys brevisetosa, Strumigenys clypeata, Strumigenys louisianae, Strumigenys membranifera, Strumigenys reflexa, Strumigenys rostrata
