A few weeks ago i was in parker and trying to dig up tetra colonies but I didn't realize that there was a monomorium minimum colony right next to one I took out a chunk of dirt and poof a Monomorium minimum queen+workers+brood. the queen is a egg-laying machine and has laid around 10-20 eggs so far.

Sorry to hear about the declining colony, perhaps try boosting them with more workers (brood or already eclosed), and I believe they need more then one queen to thrive. Out of at least 100 colonies I've seen in the wild, not one had one queen, they are very polygynous, in fact it's likely essential for their growth. It's also very rare for a single queen to found by themselves, almost everyone who's tried has failed, at least on this forum.

weirdly this colony had a single queen and I dug deeper than I would with other colonies of this sp and all the other colonies I had found had at least 4 queens sadly the nearest colonies of this species are about 45 mins away :(

the queen was left alone by workers, and succumbed to death a few moths ago
