What are the dimensions of the "XL" stronghold?

12 x 4 is what I ordered. However I think it came out a bit bigger than that. Also the foraging area is 13 x 5 x 5

Been a while since I updated. This colony is still going after diapause, although they seem off to a slow start this year. I did manage to get some neat shots of the water towers using a flashlight. Lots of brood.

Update? I found three of these queens today.

I just found a few queens as well, at least I think its Lasius neoniger. I can't tell neoniger, americanus, and niger apart. Hope the colony's doing well, waiting for an update

Been keeping ants since January of 2021

This colony didn't grow much this year, back in diapause for now.

man, your so lucky. I live in SoCal and people say that lasius are common around here, but i’ve NEVER seen a lasius queen, let alone a worker. Goodluck on this colony!

This colony is still alive, just in diapause at the moment. I snapped a picture of the queen anyhow. I think I'll move them to a different nest in the spring to give this one a good cleaning.

This colony is done with diapause. They already have larvae and new eggs. I'm hoping they really make a bounce back this year.
