Hi gang,I found this queen just running around in my backyard and I'm not sure which species she is. Can anyone help?

She looks like a Camponotus queen, possibly Camponotus novaeboracensis if her thorax (midsection) is red.
How long is she in mm? Any close up side pictures?
Fully claustral, although somewhat thin looking. You can offer a very small drop of sugar water on a tin foil plate. She may drink some.

It's best to include a location of collection and a length in mm.

Oops again, she is about 10 mm not 100. Heh that would be pretty big for a queen..

I don't know much about the ants in this area, but I would guess this is Camponotus nearcticus.

It could be Camponotus herculeanus?
Edit: It's not the right red I don't think. I'm not in the Quebec area so I'm unfamilar with the ants there.
But I can tell you it is for sure a Carpenter Ant Queen.

I would agree with drew. Definitely a smaller species of Camponotus so that rules out C. herculeanus ...

Looks like Camponotus nearcticus to me too. They're pretty common.
