So I’m selling Pogonomyrmex occidentalis queens, which can be shipped across state borders without a permit. (https://www.formicul...op/#entry157404)
What’s the best way to ship ants? All of them are in test tube setups.

Ants I have:
1 Formica fusca group- 0 workers
1 Tetramorium immigrans colony-20 workers
1 Dorymyrmex insanus- 1 queen, used to have workers
1 large P. occidentalis colony- around 50 workers, plenty of brood
Keeps:
1:Pogonomymex occidentalis
4: Tetramorium immigrans
2 Reticulitermes flavipes
Full test tube setups are probably not a great idea too. Maybe halfway with the water.
Veromessor pergandei
Veromessor andrei
Crematogaster sp.
Pogonomyrmex cf cali and rugosus
Various Pheidole
C. yogi
Thank you guys! I should be able to do all of that.

Full tubes are fine. Over the last year I've shipped out probably over 30 orders and none have had any complications during shipment.

I’m thinking of a box with the test tube, filled with packing peanuts/bubble wrap and one of those hand heating packets. Would that do the job?

If you ship down here, it’ll be 100 degrees on the mail truck. I don’t think you need a heat pack.I’m thinking of a box with the test tube, filled with packing peanuts/bubble wrap and one of those hand heating packets. Would that do the job?
Most people I know who ship inverts in the summer (e.g. isopods) actually use cool packs!

And I don't believe you can ship to Alaska or Hawaii either? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the changes to the legal restrictions concerning P. occidentalis only apply to the lower 48 states.
"God made..... all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds (including ants). And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:25 NIV version

All of that is true. We don’t have any orders from Florida and we’re linking the permit to all California buyers.
