I'd like to introduce my Pheidole Hyatti that I found nearly 1 year ago. They're one of my favorite ants since they're Pheidole and Pheidole get majors and sometimes even supermajors! But, my Pheidole Hyatti can't have supermajors. But that's ok because I love their coloration! These were found in my area of Tucson, Arizona. I'm not going to give away the place where I found them in Tucson because I'd like to keep my secret place where I find most of my ants a secret...
I gathered my Pheidole Hyatti colony in July of last year. You want to know why they're so special to me? Well, they were my first ant colony that brought me into ant keeping. I was pretty clueless of what they even were and then I bought a Camponotus colony from a very good person in Tucson who introduced me to someone later on that helped me ID them and that person is a very nice person and he's CheetoLord02 who helped me ID my Pheidole Hyatti which I will be posting on soon! Ok, I better stop talking about how I began an keeping and actually show you guys the ants!
They used to have 2 queens and then 2 majors but sadly the second Pheidole Hyatti queen died and then my fruit fly culture started dying like crazy so they were only eating sunburst and I don't know why but the majors died... May they live in peace in the graveyard. But I've recently have now been able to get crickets and oh boy is the queen chunky and happy! I will make sure to keep you guys posted on my Pheidole Hyatti!
Before I finish this up with the picture I'd like to put a link of CheetoLord02's Pheidole! He has many Pheidole species and I'm sure you guys would love his journals!
