What are some reputable ant nests for mature colonies you'd recommend aside from THA? or would you just create your own (test tube and bucket) to save cost?

Aus Ants if you are willing to wait a long time if you don't live in Australia. Their formicariums are sold on Ant Keeping Depot. There are some materials like grout, hydrostone, and plaster that can be used to make DYI nests. You can also just make a terrarium, but depending on if you make it bioactive or put live plants and other animals in it it can be a lot of work.
So if you live in the US you can buy them from the antkeeping depot? I thought they didn't ship to the US.

They do, well not ants, but formicariums and supplies. I know at least one member from the US who has Aus Ants nests. With COVID I thought someone said it could take up to a month or more. I really wouldn't be surprised.

I used to use AUS Ants nests but i ended up selling or trading them but overall were great formicariums.
etsy sellers are usually pretty good 3d printers and ant keepers just trying to make some money. UtahAntShop, UndergroundCiti, and AntsHq are good ones.
I don’t think anyone here recommended it. We just said it was an option really.Contrary to what other have said, unless you live in Australia, I don't think buying from ant-keeping depot(specifically Aus Ants nests) would be a good idea as there are brands that are just as good in Europe that are cheaper and might even have cheaper shipping to the US. Some examples are AntLab and AntBoyUk.
I don't see how it matters. Plus he literally asks what we recommended so any answer was basically a recommendation.I don’t think anyone here recommended it.
