I am making a website for people only in Massachusetts to buy ants from. It's still a work in progress, and as when I finish it, there are going to be only Prenolepis and maybe Ponera to buy. I am going to sell other species like Camponotus and Formica and Lasius, and Tetramorium, Nylanderia and many more species after I acquire them. I don't think I will be selling formicariums, but test tubes tweezers and cotton balls will probably be able to be bought. And I don't do in person trading. It's not to late to cancel making it, but I thought this would be good for other anters in Massachusetts. Any advice on the price for the ants, or anything else? As I said I am not done making it yet so I will figure out payment methods after I get your advice on everything.

Honestly, your best bet is to put up a thread here or to join the GAN project. 90% of folks looking to buy ants go to GAN first.

ok

That does sound easier, but I don't want to go to in person trading or something like that.

You can always just on a shop in here put that you don’t like human contact like me but sometimes for me it’s necessary.

Currently: Considering moving to Australia

I've never done it myself, but I've heard from people that they ship ants using the GAN project. As long as it's not across state lines it's not illegal, but the GAN staff might do something if they find out.

Ants I have:

1 Formica fusca group- 0 workers

1 Tetramorium immigrans colony-20 workers

1 Dorymyrmex insanus- 1 queen, used to have workers

1 large P. occidentalis colony- around 50 workers, plenty of brood

ok. Thanks. I'll find a way to ship them. When I finish making my website or selling on the GAN project I'll let you know.

I don't think I'm gonna go with the GAN project until I really know if and how to ship ants there.

GAN is just a platform that helps people find you. You don’t have to follow all their silly rules. Arrange what works for you and your customers.

GAN is almost completely unmoderated. People have been found selling exotic species on there, reported, and nothing ever happened. It's also against GAN's rules to ship ants at all OR sell ants on any platform besides theirs, but those rules haven't been followed in years. I ship to GAN customers pretty frequently, as well as selling via Formiculture, Discord, Etc.

Can they force you to only sell on their platform?

They can’t enforce anything, and frankly don’t care to.
