So 2 days ago i found a S. molesta colony inside of a T. immigrans colony, and being the idiot that I am i collected them, all 7 queens and around 50 workers, it turns out that the test-tube was too close to the heating cable and 5 of the queens got overheated and died or so I thought. The next day 2 of the "dead" queens were moving but one of the ones that werent overheated apparently was but took longer to show it. I know i suck

Well the re-introduction didn't go as well as i wanted, aka the 2 queens were killed

So the 2 queens were part of the colony, and when you put them back in, the workers killed them?

I have a 3 queen colony of these ants, and they grow really quick.

yes i captured them as a like 100 wrkr colony but only manage to get like 50 wrkrs with 7 queens

Well a few days ago i went back to the nesting site and found 8 more queens, and collected several hundred workers so now its a 9 queen colony, and yesterday i ordered a Minihearth that was already made

a few days later i want back and collected more queens and workers so they are now a like 60 worker 18 queen colony, but a few days ago i went to fort collins and collected  small portion of a massive S. molesta colony like 1000-2000 worker, 15-18 queens and toooooooonnnnnnns of brood. and now they are in a tubs and tubes set-up, and happily eating isopods.

I wish I could find the colony on my property. I've only seen the occasional worker.

There is a huge xyloni colony in my backyard and I have to wait till august to get queens and sometimes they don’t fly.

yesterday i moved the big colony into the mini-hearth with the small colony there was a little resistance from the small colonies workers but eventually they gave up. and it was a mistaje to move them in there. there is a blanket of workers covering the glass. i added on another diy outworkld

Is their mini hearth bifurcated? I'm pretty sure that gives tiny ants a bit more usable nesting space so that might help with the overcrowding a bit.

yeah just moved all of them out of the minihearth for until i get like a fortress for them

They grow so fast, you might need to go bigger, especially with that many Queens!

oops i meant i moved them into a formicarium that i made the very first time i used hydrostone in a formicarium
