Does anyone know when to give my ants an ant farm? Like, open the tube and put them in a container. What size colony should I give an ant farm? I am planning to catch a lot of queens this year, and I this would be nice to just know in general.

I am not the most experienced but it all depends on the size i think initially move them in when they are at 20-30 worker count.

I gave my honey pot a farm when they are 25 workers , because they will come out when I feed them in a test tube,

It really depends on the species.
"The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer." Prov. 30:25
Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.

Pheidole are vigorous and bold foragers, so I would give them a small foraging area as soon as they have five or so nanitics if you can. Though you could keep doing it for a while more, there is really no benefit in keeping them plugged up in a tube.

I suggest you give your ants an outworld when it becomes to hard to feed them in their test tube without escapees.
