Camponotus Vicinus "Vinny"

JP1A1886_zpssx4idsje.jpg

Dspdrew, Kellakk and I were up at Mount baldy taking a leisurely bug hop. It was cooler than expected but still we were hopeful to find some queens and bugs. Quickly we started finding many glorious creatures including spiders, scorpions, crickets, termites, ants, centipedes and unique larvae. After a few times around the little area we decided to head up to the car where drew found his honeypot ant queen in a unique place in the river bed where some sand had collected. Needle in a haystack if you ask me. That got our ant juices flowing and wanting more. Drew setup the blacklight and we started waiting for things to capture. Eventually we ventured to another canyon downhill to see if there was any change in the temperature. Eventually we decided to give our original place one more shot before we called it a night, it was temping to just go home from there but up we went. Only after a few steps onto the trail after arriving, drew spotted this queen! It was a happy sight after driving all that way. Almost a couple hours had past and Kellakks jar was filled with creatures and drew had caught a few more queens as well. We saw this very unique firefly larvae which was a first to me and looked alien. For me, that was the first real serious ant journey I have been on and it was really blast. I'll update as the ant, named "vinny", grows..

I posted that before he wrote all that. It was just the picture. Noticed that he edited it after I posted that.

Nice! I hope it's successful. Can I ask why you are adding pictures as an attachment? I've been seeing a lot of people do this lately.
