I didn't hibernate my ants. Do I need to jumpstart my ants by adding heat? give protein? or will they just start laying when they're ready?

Many northern species will not lay eggs without hibernation (especially in the first year)

(correct me if I'm wrong)They will probably do a a summer/late diapause. If they stop consuming any food especially protein, don't have any pupae nor larva, lack of activity then that means they are trying to get into diapause.
