Hi,
Last year there were dozens of Lasius queens in our backyard and in the pool, it was a huge nuptial flight. I was wondering if they would repeat that every year or would they skip a year once in a while. Thanks!

Most ants have annual flights, though I don't know about ants such as army ants... the point is yes, they have annual flights.

Some species will have mating flights every year on almost the exact same date.

I guess we'll see if this year is the same because we had a bad winter here.

Doesn't matter, they will still fly.

Winter can't really effect ants, unless you all of a sudden get a massive snow storm in July then yes It probably would, but what are the chances?
