I found this queen under a sun warmed rock earlier this week.

 

The single ant in the photos appears to be the queen.

 

The second picture is of workers and brood.

 

I actually did a capture/release on this one as I had no idea what it was.

 

They were very small,

Looks like an Aphaenogaster sp but I can't tell those pictures are blurry.

Yeah probably Aphaenogaster, though the pics are super blurry...
