Hello all again, I have started this thread for me to dump my photos without absolutely flooding the photography thread. I got a lotta photos, not all of which are good 

I believe i'll be posting a bunch of photos of each sp and editing if I have new photos to add, we shall see what I actually end up doing.

My first post is going to be my aphaenogaster lamellidens, sadly this colony is no longer alive as the queen kicked the bucket leaving 9 workers and a small batch of eggs. 

 

The workers have these really cool yellow dots on their gasters, probably some of my favorite coloration patterns on any ant up here in MA



Callows also have amazing coloration over their entire body, bright yellowish orange body with dark black legs

You might want to consider A. treatae or A. ashmeadi for them, as it looks like they've got a lobe at the base of the scapes.

I actually caught this colony here in MA, where ashmeadi are currently not known to be. I have also collected specimens of A. treatae which have a much more pronounced lobe as seen in this photo:



I have zoomed in on the antannae of both specimens here

Yeah, I know about the morphology of the three. Must have been the angle the other pictures were at.

I use a canon 5dsr with the mp-e 65mm lens

Yeah I never really got a good angle on the face of the lamellidens like I did on the treatae
