2. Date of collection: 5-5-'15
3. Length: 16mm

4. Habitat of collection: I found her walking on the road

5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: You can see it in the picture
6. Distinguishing characteristics: -
7. Anything else distinctive: - 
8. Nest description: They like rocky areas. they nest in sand

 

I think this species is Camponotus pilicornis, but i don't know for sure. Maybe you guys can help!

Great find! This guy has found a similar queen in Rhodes, Greece http://antfarm.yuku....es#.VVePDhnfrIU.

I don't think Camponotus pilicornis is found in your area. Here's a list of ant species from your area http://www.google.bg....93564037,d.bGg.

You could be right with your guess she looks like a Camponotus Sanctus queen but I don't know for sure. I will update this topic with some pictures of her nanitics so this species will be easier to identify. (She just had her first larva, so it will take a few weeks till her nanitics arive)
