They are doing alright, I am going to need to move one colony to a new tube soon and the other is still doing just fine :)

Very nice. I didn't know you had a good colony of P. gilvescens. How thick is that ant farm?

Looks like a nice start to a colony, I bet it will be fun to watch the Fungus grow and grow from that point! :D

Its not...but thanks! I just barely melted the acrylic enough to anchor it in... Not sure this idea will work out long term unfortunately temperature changes cause the mesh to flex the acrylic a bit more than is acceptable

I made a setup copied from Drew's design (with a little bit of polishing imo :P).

This is it, with just a glass tube connecting the containers:

The cotton has been replaced with metal mesh, but other than that its the same.

Since my last update the Pogonomyrmex californicus had done some major excavation work in their nest...but as you will see a major problem presented itself: high power magnets and glass just do not mix! Ooops.

Luckily I had an empty setup that is almost identical already set up (the queen in it died) and hooked them up to it. Today they finished moving in and the colony is all there, only two stragglers had to be picked out of the old setup. Photo is a bit dark but I'm just too lazy to fix that tonight:
