gave you 5 stars but don't make threads about asking to get higher ratting. Other people rate by how helpful you are and how you behave in here, so better thing to do is just be nicer or more helpful if you are not.

That happened to me as well. I hope whoever's doing this, (and we all know who you are) will stop. I don't see how this brings this person joy to downvote posts for no reason.

Usually people rate by how helpful you are but some people give low ratings for no reason

I've been observing this for a while but did not want to make a post calling out someone unfairly until I had enough evidence to fairly support a belief of who it may be, so here goes:

at 5:19 pm GMT spazmops made a post regarding the low ratings a particular user had been giving to journals and members alike, politely requesting them to stop.

6 minutes later spazmops notices his/her rating drop from 5 to 4 stars. 

therefore there is a six minute time frame wherein a user gave such a rating and lo and behold, the only user that visited his account within this time frame was vendayn.

This is probably a surprise to nobody at this point, but someone needed to point it out.

I came to the same conclusion after something said in another thread correlated with something said in here. "Salty"

Like I said in the other thread. Its actually multiple people, since way before this there were already people with a lot of downvotes on their profiles and a lot of downvotes on various threads.

 

Though the star system would work if it was used as intended. Again like I said in the other thread, if it wasn't used to automatically downvote for no reason, downvote just cause don't like someone (especially all the mass downvotes of anyone keeping exotics/invasives, not a valid reason to downvote someones profile. And this happens to multiple people), and upvote for no reason or upvote just cause like someone, it would actually work a lot better. Some people use it correctly to upvote the thread's actual content, so kudos to them. But the rating system is kinda broken.

 

(edit: Also drew, zeiss and someone else in chat all think the star system doesn't matter and best to be ignored. Seems pointless to have it then if it doesn't matter)

Zeiss was the only one in the chat that said anything about it.

Zeiss was the only one in the chat that said anything about it. 

 

drew and FSTP said the same thing the other day when I noticed someone was downvoting a bunch of stuff (and not just my stuff)

I had 2 or 3 stars for a while because people don't like my stance on illegal trade or the fact that I have exotic species without a permit. I'm back up to 4 stars now, probably because of my journals. As for the topics getting spammed with 1 star ratings, I have a distinct hunch it's a certain somebody who's Pheidole megacephala journal got a bunch of 1 star ratings being salty, although I can't prove anything.
