Hi,

So in my house we have a indoor earthworm bin. The plan was to feed the worms to the ants when it was time to feed them. But I was wondering, are worms enough? We were also thinking about mealworms. Are they better? Should I maybe feed a mix of mealworms and earthworms?

Worms would most likely be fine, different species would react differently but that would be a good source of protein.  I would try and give them variety if you can, as well as frequent feeding.  Make sure to also provide them with carbs and sugars.  I recommend the byFormica Sunburst Nectar, sugar water or honey.  I just use sugar water for simplicity, as well as keeping costs down.  I would also be careful of using too much honey as it can be hard to clean, it can be daunting for some ants, and some will get stuck.

Yeah, I do three parts water with one part sugar.

I do the same ratio.  I generally put it in a byFormica liquid feeder.

some species, like lasius, live off of worms a lot. so they would be fine. but it is a good idea to supplement some other things in there, like maybe go to the pet store one every week and get them a cricket(the ones at my pet store are 14 cents).

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8
