Video I took of this colony emptying a bowl of fruit flies.  January 9th 2021

These gals are ridiculously hungry for their colony numbers.

At only 36ish workers they are ravenous!

These fruit flies should support the brood that is beginning to blanket the floor of their mini hearth

Those pics are awesome! Do you have any tips for getting the lighting so clear?

I use little clip on book lights. That way I can place them very close & adjust them in just the right angle to get plenty of light.

They are very cheap and you can find them on amazon.

Approximately 45 workers. 1 major

Wow just look at this brood! Floor space is quickly running out.
I think I’ll have to upgrade this colony into a THA fortress by the end of February.

More eggs and small larvae means another generation is already in the works!

Apologies for the delay guys.

Photos taken Feb 21st 2021
Approximately 100 -115 workers.
Today I counted 10 majors.
This colony, is ferocious and highly prolific like we knew they would be!
As you can see there is no more floor space whatsoever. There is also very little ceiling space left.
I connected a 2nd mini hearth to their existing one.
I know if I move them into a fortress instead, they would fill it up in 4 weeks or less.
So I’ll let them fill up this 2nd mini hearth over the next couple weeks and then move them straight into the atrium, skipping the fortress and Casita all together.

My next update will be in a couple weeks when they move into their new home!
