I want to find Camponotus subbarbatus. I also want some Dolichoderus and to find the one Dorymyrmex species that AntMaps.org says lives here.

I would like to add that I want to find a Temnothorax colony hosting Temnothorax minutissimus, because that would be a really neat find.

I've seen it written as L. clavipes, but I'm not sure if it has an official name or not.

Good luck with the Pheidole. You'll have to travel to Southeastern WA to even have a chance at finding them. I used to live in Marysville, WA, so just down the street from you, and the only ants I ever really found were Camponotus, Myrmica, TONS of Formica (including F. obscuripes; they're really fun to keep!), Lasius, Tetramorium, Solenopsis and Leptothorax. If you want, PM me and I'll give you a list of my favorite anting spots near our area and what species I've found there.

Any species that I can find locally that isn't Pheidole megacephala, Solenopsis invicta or Argentine ants. And not too tiny like Monomorium ergatogyna. The picking of local (native) ants is getting smaller and smaller. I guess if like invasive ants though, more and more to choose from around here lol.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

I'm doing this again because I realised how many mistakes I made on the last one...

This is kind of a long list, it's all saved in a book so I don't really forget.

Also, this is based off information I've seen, so a species might be really boring to keep but I don't know
Also, also, this is from a book in 2012 so some of the undescribed species might now be described (or something I dunno, man)

Sorry had to make it small so it's not too long

Stigmatomma pallipes

Brachyponera chinensis.

Proceratium silaceum

Dolichoderus mariae

Tapinoma sessile

Undescribed species of Tapinoma

Brachymyrmex depilis

Camponotus americanus

Camponotus castaneus

Camponotus chromaiodes

Camponotus herculeanus

Camponotus nearcticus

Camponotus novaeboracensis

Camponotus pennsylvanicus

Camponotus subbarbatus

Formica aserva

Formica difficilis

Formica integra

Formica knighti

Formica morsei

Formica neogagates

Formica subsericea

Lasius claviger

Lasius brevicornis

Lasius latipes

Lasius neoniger

Lasius spreculiventris

Lasius subglaber

Lasius umbratus

Undescribed species of Lasius closely resembling L.  Umbratus

Nylanderia parvula

Undescribed species of Nylanderia

Polyergus lucidus

Prenolepis imparis

Anergates/Tetramorium atratulus

Aphaenogaster tennesseensis

Cardiocondyla obscurior

Crematogaster cerasi

Leptothorax wilsoni

Monomorium emarginatum

Monomorium viride

Myrmica incompleta

Myrmica quebecensis

Myrmica rubra

Going to make a taxonomical correction there--Pachycondyla chinensis has been revised to be Brachyponera chinensis. Other than that, many of those ants are on my list as well, if being similar version we have on the West Coast.

I am hoping to catch pheidole pilifera, nylanderia, camponotus, formica, lots of different types of lasius, crematogaster and prenopilis. The prenopilis nuptial flights for this year is about to end. Basically all the speices in my area I want to catch. I want a diverse range of ants this year.
