So I don't have any sort of fridge I could use for hibernating ants, and I doubt I would ever be able get my own mini fridge, so are there any ways I could hibernate ants? I'm not sure that my garage would ever get cool enough.

I would go on OfferUp and other secondhand sites and look for some cheap wine coolers, chances are you can find one for around $20 and it will be big enough for all the ants you have and then some.

What ants are you hibernating? Your Solenopsis xyloni, for example, don't need to hibernate. If your other ants were caught around the same area then they may not need it either or else could get away with a semi-hibernation.

If these are all Sd ants then they just need a break from heat for the winter.

If this are all Sd ants then they just need a break from heat for the winter.

Someplace sheltered outside may work, a shed for example.

I got an emerson wine cooler off offerup for like 20 buck and only had to use it for one camponotus colony last year but it works perfectly. The lowest temp was 56 for mine

That queen was infertile, and I don't currently have any ants. I was asking in case I find a species next summer or purchase one online that will need hibernation.
 

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll have to talk to my parents about a wine cooler or just stick with species that don't need hibernation or can get away with a semi-hibernation.

What's semi-hibernation?

I would assume a slight cool down to lower their metabolism and slow growth, but not enough for them to stop all activity.
