Not sure if there already is a thread like this...

Just curious what ants other people would want to keep (any ant from anywhere in the world)

I would definitely want some ant from Australia, they have the coolest species. Probably would keep Myrmecia.

:)

There was a thread on this.
I’d actually be a king termite.
"The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer." Prov. 30:25
Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.

I’d actually be a king termite.

It was 'keep', not 'be'.

Woops. I wasn't fully caffeinated yet when I read that. In either case, we've had multiple threads on the topic already.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Back on topic, I'd keep solenopsis geminata or some type of army ant like labidus coecus.

I would keep Dorymyrmex insanus. It's a really fun, awkward, and unique species.

emarginatus and niger would be 100% impossible since niger is in europe and emarginatus is invasive. You'd literally need a hand written note from the president to import anything invasive.

In all honesty, our president would probably give him a hand written note lol.
