Looking for large cheap colonies of small ants, CA

Hi, a friend gifted a fancy looking acrylic nest, but I don't have any colonies big enough to stick in it. 

 

Looking for (large) colonies of:
Large pheidole species, vistana, hyatti, desertorium etc

Large Solenopsis species

Liometopum

Monomorium

Brachymyrmex

Crematogaster

Any other species you can think of that would do well in the acrylic nest as a display piece

Try catching some wild Argentine Ants

Id personally go for a solenopsis species, specifically invicta or xyloni. They would be a nice display.

I'd prefer to avoid those lol, they're already everywhere, not to mention they're boring.

Yes I was considering whether or not I should move my xyloni or invicta into it, but I decided that they're too small. I'd personally rather have pheidole though, so I'll wait

cocdeshijie is selling a colony of monomorium i’m pretty sure, might wanna check that out. it has 5000 workers or something around that

Id make sure the nest is escape proof first if you are going to go for the Monomorium.


Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies. 

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
