Wasp queen?

I found this wasp hibernating with some beetles and millipedes. Is it a queen?

1 Dorymyrmex insanus- 1 queen, used to have workers

 

1 large P. occidentalis colony- around 50 workers, plenty of brood

Can you get a top shot? 

i’m not an expert but the fact that it is fall and that the wasp was hibernating makes me thing its probably a queen because it doesn’t have curved antennae like a male, and workers probably are all dead.

is the weather where you found it cold?

and was it like on the ground?

It was very cold and under one of those hay net logs they use for landscaping.

hmmm idk but that looks slightly like a solitary wasp

i might be wrong though, don’t release it just yet lol

It doesn't look much like ichneumon to me... the gaster is much larger and not skinny. I could be wrong, but I was thinking it was some kind of parasite. I also don't know much about wasps, I'm just going off of pictures of incheumon I googled.

The genus Ichneumon, the very namesake of the group, is near identical to yours.

I think most parasitize caterpillars.
