ocreatus have black legs. Ocreatus are also very rare.

You can't confidently ID California Camponotus by color. C. semitestaceus merely a guess and as far as I know, they don't fly now.

I have C ocreatus can you send me better pics? Yes C ocreatus will have darker legs than semi and the queen is also larger for C ocreatus. If you can get a good shot of the pitole it will be shaped like a heart. I would say about 18mm for this queen.

I have C ocreatus can you send me better pics? Yes C ocreatus will have darker legs than semi and the queen is also larger for C ocreatus. If you can get a good shot of the pitole it will be shaped like a heart.

I will see if I can get better pictures later, and how long are ocreatus queens?

Also would pictures of workers and majors be useful?

Oh also I'm pretty sure these do not hibernate since they look like the desert semitestaceus

To be 100% sure you need a clear close up of scape and pitole I'm not leaning towards ocreatus but more puzzled by a late flight of semitestaceus. C ocreatus are supposed to fly about now after rain and getting 89 tells the odds are much higher that they are semitestaceus also. Just want to be certain but like I said I'm agreeing more so with semitestaceus as well.
