Hers an update on these girls. They are getting to an impresive size for only being about 2-4 months old.

I believe worker count is at about 30-40.

Yes. The fungus can only be found in this species. Antscanada has a great vid on these girls explaining their life and facts.

So these girls have gotten so big and I have found that they blocked the tube to the new nest with food. I like to call this the wall of food. I wish I lived there. Imagine getting some of your food from a wall that blocked the outside world.

They are they just blocked that tube. They have another outworld where I place food but I just thought that this was worth journaling.

It concered me aswell but then I saw that 1/4 of the workers were chopping up misquite leaves and fish flakes then putting it on the fungus. I even think they are getting a bit lazy. I just saw a worker put an entire leaf on the fungus and has proceeded to take a seed off the food wall.

Ever since I started out the hobby I have been fascinated with Acromyrmex. Then once I got this colony I had an ambitious dream to have the largest colony of Acromyrmex in California. I think these girls can get there but they need room to grow so I will be building them a new setup. On my YouTube I will be posting a video of them in the enclosure. I can’t wait for you guys to see it. See ya in the next post.

Here is the tank they will be housed in and the smaller acrylic box will be the nest chamber. The flu on bottle is for scale.

Nice I love leaf cutters! How many workers do you think they are at now? I can't wait for the majors and dwarfs to arrive C:

If they are around 50 workers I think they should have at least a small major by now (media). Maybe you could look around and try to find one.
