Species available for catching in NYC area for example Central Park, Riverside Park...etc. Which best month? Species legal to ship and buy within NY State?

Lasius emarginatus has a foothold in NYC. You should try to find those for sure.

Also note that season is pretty much over now and the only ant that is really flying still is lasius claviger.

Yes, and I would not recommend those unless you've had a couple years of experience at least.

Pogonomyrmex occidentalis
