Location (on a map) of collection: Holtville, CA

Date of collection: 10/23/2020

Habitat of collection: Middle of the desert. Found near a canal bank with tall bushes

Length (from head to gaster): Approximately 12mm

Color, hue, pattern and texture: Tan colored with dark brown strips on her gaster

Nuptial flight time and date: Found wandering about at night around 11:20pm. Temperature was around 75 degrees Fahrenheit with 53% humidity

Wow, she looks incredible!

I was thinking M. mexicanus but the body shape seems a bit off, maybe a desert Camponotus species(?) Honestly, I have never seen anything like it.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
