If it's just seeds don't worry because Pogonomyrmex are very smart and somehow know mold will grow but they will keep empty seed shells and dig up all the sand they can and they will cover up the glass so don't worry if they don't cover up the glass now they will do it very soon. What type is this by chance I've never seen a polygyne colony of pogonomyrmex.
I also have a poly group of Pogonomyrmex subnitidus. It seems to be a 2020 fad.
And yeah I wouldn't worry about the trash.
