Can cremotagaster go in a Aus Ants Ytong Nest or will they chew through it/destroy it? Also how do you clean the nest? Just moved ants out of it.

My eastern species would chew right on out in a heart beat. Not sure about the western species. They seem quite a bit less dynamic.

I was going to say the same thing...  I would NOT trust a Type II nest for crematogaster.  They seem quite destructive...

A test tube placed in an escape proofed container works very well.

Move them to a new tube when the old one gets dirty. To clean the foraging area, use an aspirator and tweezers. Crematogaster are relatively messy ants.

There is almost no way despite being around second best ytong nest in the world when they get dirty they stay dirty. you have to carve out the spots where you see dirt for it to look clean which does not work very well. I recommend the acrylic one for a number of reasons and i plan on using the large acrylic nest for my crematogaster once they out grow a fortress.

you could put the ytong nest into a escape proof outworld, like antdrew makes.

They would chew through it still that's the problem and then you wouldn't see them, honestly use the ytong nest for a camponotus species or non destructive species and get yourself either. 1 a custom acrylic nest from aus ants that is absolutely huge or 2 get like 3 large aus ants acrylic nests.
