For pogonomyrmex occidentalis and pheidole pallidula, debating on Vertical or Horizontal nest? Does it matter? Would Pogonomyrmex still carried seeds to upper chamber?  The vertical nest I am comparing is from Tar Heels the Fortress.  Seems the horizontal provides better viewing but we not suppose to be shining light on nest often?

I would use the Fallen Fortress from Tar Heel Ants. It's much easier for Pogonomyrmex to move freely between outworld and nest in a horizontal nest. It also, in my opinion, looks better. The Pheidole pallidula could probably use either one.
