Hello people!
As mentioned in another post: my Novomessor cockerelli are living at around 22 degrees Celsius during the winter - normal I keep them at around 30 degrees and in the Summer temperature peaks until circa 38 degrees, depending on the weather.
But although the temperature is relatively low now, they show a really stunning activity.
I am not used to species that actively foraging and building their nest entrance even with just 6 workers!
But on Wikipedia I read, that they'd forage every day, so it seems to be normal behaviour or are they missing something?
They have seeds and get insects every few days. Maybe they are looking for a new nest? Or is everything ok and they are just that active?
Greetings from Central Europe,
Fabi

It's most likely OK. Sometimes my tetras are super active, and sometimes not. I would keep an eye on them, just in case. How many workers are in the nest, and outworld? How many total workers? Also, what formicarium are you using?

Currently they are 6 workers and they have 4 pupae, from which 2 are hatching within the next days, and circa 5-10 larvae. It's most likely OK. Sometimes my tetras are super active, and sometimes not. I thought reducing the temperature would result in lesser activity. Normally there are one to two workers outside at daytime and usually one at nighttime and when they build their mound around the nest entrance they are up to four workers.
And they still live in a test tube nest until I finish the cinder block nest. Is that a real English word, btw?
I mean a block of cellular concrete and my dictionary app says it would be the right word

Cinder block is a real word, but I think you’re referring to Ytong or AAC, which is aerated concrete.
"The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer." Prov. 30:25
Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.

That is true - and I thank you for the hint - but doesn't help me a lot^^Cinder block is a real word, but I think you’re referring to Ytong or AAC, which is aerated concrete.
Btw: the outworld is a 20x24x10cm plastic box from IKEA until I have the money for a 40x20x20cm Terrarium, which will be in December. I wanted to make a Diorama inside the outworld^^
But yeah, because in Germany you have to pay for psychiatric treatment all my money this month goes into an ADHD-diagnosis
