Garage Hibernation?

It’s getting to be that time of year, and I can tell my ants are starting to slow down. My current plan is to hibernate my colonies in my garage, which doesn’t get below freezing. Has anyone tried this before? Do ya’ll think it would work?

Ants I have:

1 Formica fusca group- 0 workers

1 Tetramorium immigrans colony-20 workers

1 Dorymyrmex insanus- 1 queen, used to have workers

 

1 large P. occidentalis colony- around 50 workers, plenty of brood

Yeah it will work, assuming it doesn't get too cold.

Assuming the cooldown is gradual and the test tube doesn't flood, local species should be fine. Most are killed by test tube floods or the test tube running out of water, or it freezing too quickly. The cold alone never does it.
