Doing some more photography today. I found something terrible. MITES around my Solenopsis molesta queens.

I have moved them to a new tube, will check in 1-2 weeks for mites again

look like harmless mites to me, as they are not feeding on the ants.

 

they were multiplying off something... and the eggs were dissapearing.

i have heard of brood eating mites. well, not harmless, then

Thanks! flash helps too! lol I wasnt using that. Also didn't realize that other than darkening the screen aperture makes a larger depth of field

One of the Myrmica Rubra queens died. there's still 5-7 left in the nest though.

looks great if you didn't id the species already, as i am sure those pics provide enough for a accurate id. wish i had that good of a camera!

Yeah when i go hunting in the summer it will be super useful as y'all are better are identities more than I lol
