My Pogonomyrmex recently move into Mini Hearth. I noticed instead of taking the trash to the outworld they decided on leaving it in the nest. Should I be worried? My initial thought is to but the nest in the fridge and quickly vacuum it.

Any advice or alternate methods are greatly appreciated!!!!

Edit: not sure why the upload caused the picture to rotate. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I wouldn’t even really worry about that. You could try vacuuming it out with an aspirator, but the ants will probably remove it when the colony gets larger.

If it's just seeds don't worry because Pogonomyrmex are very smart and somehow know mold will grow but they will keep empty seed shells and dig up all the sand they can and they will cover up the glass so don't worry if they don't cover up the glass now they will do it very soon. What type is this by chance I've never seen a polygyne colony of pogonomyrmex.

We don’t talk about that

they just have so much space in their nest that they count it as their outworld, because they don't use all of it.

Yes and these nests won't affect them in anyway so you don't have to move them they are actually great for how big the nests are and ants love them either way.

I also have a poly group of Pogonomyrmex subnitidus. It seems to be a 2020 fad.

And yeah I wouldn't worry about the trash.
