Planning to mold one into a claustral chamber then place it into a test tube. That way the queen will feel more comfortable. Also planning to stick dirt into the Playdoh(the brand) so it will look natural. :D  ;)  :D

Not really necessary. What species are you doing this for?

Solenopsis Geminata. I just want to make the queen feel home.

She’ll be totally fine in a standard test tube set up, plus you’ll be able to onserve more. I think Playdoh is liable to mold, as well.

Totally unnecessary. This is an incredibly easy species to found.

I agree, a test tube setup is best.
But can you actually make formicariums with Playdoh??

Modeling clay would be better.

Playdoh is an incredibly weak material. Ants can just chew through.

But it could be easy to make a kind of formicarium for it, if you were to put a big chunk of playdoh in a fluon barried box, you could let the ants carve their own chamber, kind of like a dirt box. Just a idea.

Playdough also will dissolve with water.  Not a good material to use at all.
