hi i noticed the brood in my colony has stopped growing. after a bit of research i learned this was a sign of hibernation. but i also read that t immigrans doesn't need hibernation and the ants outside look like they have no intention of going into hibernation AND we are in a heat wave so its not like its time for hibernations either!

How do you know it's stopped growing? And I don't know where you're getting this, but T immigrans do hibernate when its cold enough.

He got it from me. My point is that T. immigrans hibernate out of necessity, but they do not have an inbred cycle like Camponotus. I don’t think the brood not growing has anything to do with hibernation.

I had the same issue.  I upped my grasshopper stomping schedule, and they had loads of growth.

Sometime ants only forage when fresh food is given to them.
