I wasn't specifically looking for ants, so I suppose I found this queen by accident today.  I'm programmed to lift all rocks/pieces of wood to see if there are any ants under it. :)  I'm pretty sure she's lasuis, but just want to confirm.

1. Location (on a map) of collection: Arvada CO
2. Date of collection: 9/14
3. Habitat of collection: Dry, in some dirt, under a piece of wood
4. Length (from head to gaster):  10-12 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Brown legs, thorax, and head.  Shiny hairy gaster, beautiful colors, brown and orange "stripes" for lack of better word.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Pointy gaster
7. Distinguishing behavior:  LOVES to clean herself
8. Nest description: Under a piece of bark in some dirt.

9. Nuptial flight time and date: N/A

EDIT:  I apologize in advance for the awful pics. :(

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8
