Sense last week I’ve started my quest to find Lasius brevicornis. I was wondering what time of day they flew. I also want neoniger but I doubt that they will be very difficult to find. Thanks

I saw workers and alates in the entrance hole of 1/4th of all the Lasius nests. 30 later the alates were gone and the workers were withdrawing into the nest. What happened? I couldn’t find a queen or a male after that

It was a bit too cool today, I think.

Lasius fly right at sundown, when the sky turns that golden color (not sure if that makes much sense... Nothing gold can stay). In my area, when they fly, they fly!

When I lived in Michigan I walked through a flight. I literally had queens in my hair.

It looks like they are squaring up for a flight. They’ve got some work to do before they can fit female alates through the entrance

I found their reputation as boring ants is actually well deserved.
