I had an interesting thought the other day that i wanted to ask about. Basically, is it possible to have 2 seasons where ants are active and 2 hibernation times in a single year? What i mean by that is you keep your colonies awake in may june july and august, hibernate them in September and October, wake them up again in november, december, January and February, and hibernate them in march and April.
My journals:
Polyergus Mexicanus: https://www.formicul...gs/#entry175528
Lasius minutus: https://www.formicul...cs/#entry174811
Lasius latipes: https://www.formicul...gs/#entry206449

I am pretty sure there are ants that have diapause (I think that's what its called) so they avoid heats that are too hot and too cold. But others will know for definite.
