Added Lasius neoniger and Lasius brevicornis to the shop page. Hopefully I can get some decent pictures sometime.

Good afternoon ant-keepers.
I am very excited to announce I have PPQ-526 permits to ship Lasius species listed on my shop nationwide! I know there are others that sell these species, but south dakota has some pretty unique genetics in queens, such as the ability for them to lay eggs before diapause, ensuring a quicker start to a new colony (my Lasius neoniger and americanus have larvae already). Also, it supports a small business! If you are interested in something from my shop, please PM me and respond to this post, I would love to talk to you about the ants! I can even let you pick out your colony from the ones I have. Here are the states I can currently ship them too.

It’s funny you can ship to MD and NC, but not Virginia. I can basically see Maryland from my backyard.

I know it is funny. I'm still waiting for more states to confirm my application, and will update this accordingly.

Eight new states have approved PPQ-526 permits for me to ship Lasius to them! There is a limited amount of time to get your colonies before winter closes down South Dakota  :cold: . The new maps are attached below:

It'd be great if you could get California on the list for L. brevicornis since they're also native here, I'd definitely buy them from you if they get approved for my state.

I currently have a pending permit for California, but it has yet to be approved. I hope that by spring time all of my permits for this genus will have been approved. I have noticed that permit application slows down in winter, so there should be more time for reviewing mine.

A lot of questions have come up surrounding the topic of my PPQ-526 permits for the genus of Lasius, and I want to attempt to clarify things. I have applied for permits for all 48 continuous states in the US. The majority of them have been sent to the states for review, and the majority of those have been approved. I am still waiting on some however, and will update the map as these get approved.

While there is very little time left to order a colony of ants from this shop due to the change in South Dakota weather :/ , I did want to provide an update to the new permit situation. There have been several new additions to the Lasius shipping list. For Californian users, I reapplied for the Lasius permit for California, as I got a lot of interest from there specifically. I believe that my A-F permits for Lasius may have gotten lost somewhere in the system, so I will be reapplying for them in the future. More excitingly, though, I now have permits to ship Solenopsis molesta to several states! I know the keeping of these ants is fairly niche, as they are so small, but it has been documented that these queens will mate in the nest, and also they grow so fast and have tons of brood as in the journal linked previously, so I hope some people will take some time to appreciate them. I do know that in some places of the country, S. molesta are not polygynous, so this will open up access for polygynous ones. As far as I know, I am the only supplier of these queens, which is cool!

The recent heat wave over South Dakota still means there is a little bit of time left in this ant shipping season, but not much, so this will be my last update as to the ants available for sale nationwide. Several new states have approved PPQ-526 permits for Solenopsis molesta, which is thrilling! Check out if your state is one of them:

Currently keeping:

1x Formica subsericea, (used to be polygynous) 20+ workers

1x Lasius umbratus, (Workers accepted) 25 workers with host brood (I think they are dead now lol)

1x Crematogaster cerasi 4 workers with brood (still growing)

As you watch your ants march, remember: every journey begins with a single step (or queen)-not just towards you, but towards a future woven by diligence and shared dreams - Me

Unfortunately, communicating between the USDA and the Canadian version of this agency is not something I am able to do, and not even any other ant suppliers have attempted to do so either. As for shipping products, I could probably ship to Quebec, but it would cost more for shipping. To be honest with you, you are probably better off purchasing from another supplier, as I would rather save you the money for shipping than make a sale. That is, unless you are buying a handmade product...coming out soon.... :secret:
