You'd know if it's a male. They look nothing like queens. Also, I doubt a T. sessile alate would be attacked by workers of the same species. I don't think this species is aggressive to themselves like that. You may want to check your ID. It's really late in the season to find one. They are normally around much earlier in the year.

it died, along with all but one of my pavement queens, they drowned in honey while I was on vacation in the same state. I suck   :facepalm:Though Queen Persephone's brood pile is much bigger. :)  :)  :) But the crematogaster colony had a massive die-off with only about 10 workers left. :(

it is part of the learning cycle. however, you need to remember that you just dug up a colony, and it just died. remember that next time you think of digging up a colony. patience for just the newly swarmed queens pays off.

Every colony I have ever collected has died. I never recommend it and I no longer do it. It also disrupts the ecosystem depending on how large the colony is.

Just the general decline of the forum.

That happens every year around this time. Its probably because most people are putting their ants into hibernation for the Winter. I have plenty of ants that are still active, and don't have to hibernate most of them. I'll keep my journal updated, lol.
