I found this queen last night at around 9:40 (or approx. 1 hour after dark) while simply wondering around in my yard. I definitely wasn't expecting to find a Pheidole queen this late in the year, but here we are. At first I thought she was P. bicarinata, but something just seems... off? Or is it just me? She is 6 mm and looks different than my other P. bicarinata queens, so I'm not sure.

Looks like Pheidole bicarinata to me.

Ants I have: Tapinoma sessile(2 queen colony). RED MORPH Camponotus neacticus(now has pupae!), Tetramorium immigrans (x3), Aphaenogaster sp, Temnothorax sp, ~~Brachymyrmex sp.~~ possibly infertile , Ponera pennsylvanica, and Pheidole morrisi!

Other insects: Polistes sp. Queen

Ants I need: Pheidole sp., Trachymyrmex sp., Crematogaster cerasi , Dorymyrmex sp. Most wanted: ~~Pheidole morrisii~~

It does I would name her monarch or something like that because of the pattern in her head.

Rule of thumb for me, if it looks like bicarinata but looks a little bit strange or like something is off, it is probably still bicarinata. Happens to me frequently.
