Massive price drop! 1/3 of what THA sells for! All queens come with nanitics unless queens with only brood are requested. All queens ship in a test tube setup with clean substrate.

THA used to sell queens with nanitics for more than 60, so you're selling yours for maybe a fourth of his price.  :D

He’s probably looking to make a profit, which I totally understand, but I’m just trying to break even. This hobby gets expensive real quick

Ikr? Perhaps if this does well you could expand beyond 20 queens next year, and brood boost queens once they got nanitics (and NOT before they even have a chance to raise workers and prove themselves to be fit like THA does) to have a range of colony sizes.

I have far more than 20 queens, but I guarantee live delivery, so I have to have backups. The backups that aren’t used will be sold as colonies for cheap, but without the live guarantee (assuming the vast majority of the queens I’m selling now arrive safely).

Hmu when those cheap backup queens arrive

As explained in the post above, we are now out of stock. No more new orders will be accepted until we have small colonies started from backup queens.

Here is the full refund policy:

1. A video of all the dead ants must be shown to be eligible. Do not throw away your dead ants until you have a video.

2. To be eligible for the refund, you must have been home when the ants arrive. If you leave the ants on your doorstep and they bake it is not our fault.
3. You need to tell us what days we should have the package arrive so that you will be home to pick them up as soon as they are delivered.

4. If possible, your ant will be replaced. If not, you will be refunded the price of the dead ants.

Spazmops did a great job shipping my Pogonomyrmex occidentalis colony halfway across the country to Virginia. They arrived safe and healthy.

How are they doing? Have you checked for eggs yet, or are you waiting a little longer?

No changes yet. I can't find the larva anymore, either. :(

That’s surprising. A few more days should do it though. My refund offer still stands if she doesn’t have more brood by the time a worker passes away.

I would say start by shoving seeds from the outworld into the nest so the workers don't have to go out and forage at such a small colony size. I know so many people that say they have never got one of these past founding without brood boosting but i don't think that's true look where mine are at. Basically all you can do antdrew is stick a heating cable on the opposite end of the water tower and always keep the nestmate and water tower full, and always have seeds in the outworld or nest.

The seeds may also be a problem at such a small colony size, chia and dandelion seeds seem to be my ants favored or any other small seed.

We don’t talk about that

I agree with Kit. I found that until my colony had around 3 workers the queen would be the one doing all of the foraging, so it would appear the workers are very timid until their numbers grow.

One of the workers does come up all the time, but I haven’t seen it carrying seeds down. I did drop various seeds down into the nest part including shelled hemp hearts, dandelion, and various small wildflower seeds. I have a heat cable taped to the dry side of the mini-hearth. I need to just totally ignore them a week or so.
If they don’t succeed, it’s not the end of the world because I’m pretty close to maxed out on colonies at this point.

I honestly wouldn't suggest putting seeds they didn't take directly into their nest, as I tried this once with chia seeds. The chia seeds were completely ignored, molded, and sprouted, killing half the colony.
