1. Location of collection: Sidewalk.

2. Date of collection: 7/27/20
3. Habitat of collection: Field of grass closeby.
4. Length: About 13-15mm
5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: Body and head is dark orange in color. Gaster is shiny and has yellow and dark orange lines.
6. Distinguishing characteristics:n/a
7. Anything else distinctive: Bit me while i was trying to handle it which i found kinda odd.
8. Nest description: n/a

9. Nuptial flight time and date: n/a
10 . Post the clearest pictures possible of the top, side, and face of the ant in question, and if possible, their nest and the habitat they were collected in.
 

Questions:

Fully claustral or semi?

Camponotus sp.


Ants I have: Tapinoma sessile(2 queen colony). RED MORPH Camponotus neacticus(now has pupae!), Tetramorium immigrans (x3), Aphaenogaster sp, Temnothorax sp, Brachymyrmex sp.   possibly infertile   :(,  Ponera pennsylvanica, and Pheidole morrisi!  :yahoo: 

 

Other insects: Polistes sp. Queen

                    

Ants I need: Pheidole sp., Trachymyrmex sp., Crematogaster cerasi , Dorymyrmex sp. Most wanted: Pheidole morrisii

Did some research. Looks like its a Camponotus Variegatus. Not 100% sure.

 

If it is, is it a fully claustral or semi-claustral?

Yes, Camponotus variegatus, the only Camponotus known from the Hawaiian Islands.
